"Talk About Prescriptions" Planning Materials for October 2008 - AND BEYOND
Welcome to the National Council on Patient Information and Education's 23nd annual observance of "Talk About Prescriptions" Month (TAP Month). These on-line and downloadable planning materials enable site visitors to plan, organize, and conduct TAP activities in your local community through-out the year not just during the 31 days of October.
Consumers and caregivers are encouraged to download of all of these complimentary resources and share them with family members and loved ones.
The National Council on Patient Information and Education (NCPIE) has developed a variety of customizable, downloadable materials to help your organization promote a "Medicine Smart™" program to local news media and other community organizations. These include:
Media Alert to notify news media outlets about an upcoming event. This should be distributed via e-mail to health reporters and editors one week before the workshop. This one-page advisory should also include opportunities for photographs or video, if appropriate.
Press Release to announce that XYZ organization is holding a "Medicine Smart™" event and call attention to the need for education about medication use among older adults.
Calendar Listing to include workshop in community calendars. This should be submitted to the community page editor three weeks before the workshop.
Placeholders are provided to allow you to easily tailor and adapt the materials to showcase your efforts. Also provided is a feature article and fact sheet about medicine use and older adults that can be included in press kits or distributed to other community publications (e.g., local hospital newsletters, chamber of commerce mailings).
